Creator Notes

My name is Sarah Rantz, and I am a freshman at Menlo School. I have always been interested in the field of arts, such as singing, drawing, and acting. I don't have a background in comics, so I thought that it would be worthwhile to learn how to do them and make my own. I learned a lot of things about the comicking process this week. I learned what makes a comic interesting, how to use minimal words, how to use different panels and spacing, etc. I would like to overall spend more time perfecting my next comic and having it be more of an artistic piece than a story.

My comic is an unrealistic story. A snowman, built by two kids, becomes alive when a device falls into it. The snowman transforms into an evil protagonist, yearning to have control over a nearby town. I had no particular inspiration for telling this story, I just grappled with different ideas and decided that this story would be the most exciting to craft. The reader should take away from this story, and comic altogether, that anyone can draw and create stories. I am not an artist, and barely a story-teller, but creating this comic was very enjoyable and certainly worth it. My comic is quite basic, but I suppose that the reader could notice and appreciate how many times I had to draw a snowman.
