Creator Notes

This comic is about an ex-knight, Sir Rueben, who has been kicked out of his beloved castle, the Castle Academy of Knighthood. He has to adapt to modern life, which he doesn't really do well, but he tries. Meanwhile, the C.A.K. is experiencing difficulties; Princess Shirley has disappeared! Can Rueben, though he is no longer a knight, save the day and regain his knighthood? Read to find out! And to see our awesome drawings too, of course. We chose this art style because we wanted something that was relatively laid-back and easy to read and draw. We didn't want something overly complicated that would be overdrawing the plot, nor something that was too simple and boring. We chose this story because it was the best out of all the other ideas we had and actually had a little bit of potential to be interesting. Hopefully it is!

The first step in our creation process was to come up with a plot and story. Once we chose one, we figured out the characters that we needed. Then, we drafted some possible characters designs for each character. While drafting, we came up with the characters' names and the names of the various locations (to make it a bit more realistic). Also, we saw which one of us was better at drawing a certain character and decided who would draw who. We are proud of some of our drawings here and there because they look better than we expected, and we are proud of our application of what we learned in our comics class in our own comic. Next time, we hope to work a bit more on making the drawings look better and the story flow better. This time our art and story were hindered by our lack of time before the due date of the comic, and next time, if we have more time, it would be nice to be able to spend more time perfecting the comic and bringing it to our liking.
