Chinese grammar is very similar to English grammar. The most basic form is "Subject-Verb-Object." The biggest difference is that verbs aren't conjugated. Rather, a few time-indicating characters are added to the verb, and those sometimes vary with geography. Therefore, tense isn't extremely emphasized and is highly dependent on the context and surrounding characters.
- There is no plural.
- Pronouns are commonly used.
- The format when using direct and indirect objects is: Subject-"ba"-D.O.-verb-"I.O."
- There are three politeness levels of address: respect, normal, and rude.
