About Me: basics

Born in Shanghai, China, I moved to the United States at the age of 6. I grew up in Palo Alto, California, and then attended the University of Chicago for a double-major in History and East Asian Studies. I recently finished my Masters degree at the Stanford Teacher Education Program. I taught a World History course at Fremont High School, and 7th and 8th grade history at University Preparatory Academy. I most recently taught World Religion and World History at Menlo School. I'm currently the general manager at Heritage Chinese Center as well a teacher and administrator at Sitanfu Chinese School

My academic interests include:
- Asian art history (especially bronzes and porcelain)
- Modern European history (revolution, warfare, genocide)
- evolution of Confucianism and Buddhism
- Empire theory (BA thesis [pdf])
- Martial arts literature in China
- Eethetics and culture of Japanese animation

My other interests include:
- Illustration and comics
